French Shops



Here in the United States, speciality shops have largely disappeared, as we tend to buy everything at larger supermarkets, huge discount stores, and the mall.  In France, while super and "hyper" markets are popular, the small specialty stores have not disappeared.

French cooks place a high priority on freshness, and it is still common for people to make daily (yes daily) stops at bakeries or other stores in order to have fresh food for their tables.

Here is a sampling of the specialty stores I found in French towns on my last trip:
